The For the People Act (S1) is the democracy reform bill that includes reforms for which the League has been advocating for decades. This Federal legislation will put power back into the hands of American voters by removing barriers to voting, restoring the ballot to formerly incarcerated individuals, and modernizing future elections. The For the People Act will fundamentally strengthen our democratic system by restoring the Voting Rights Act, modernizing our voter registration system, establishing clear criteria and transparency to prevent gerrymandering, and making campaign contributions transparent.
