Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

Message from Our Management Team

Dear Leaguers,

As we begin our new League year in these uncertain times, we will be working hard to continue to conduct our voter registration drives and to educate voters on the five constitutional amendments which will be on the ballot in November.

We are forming a group of speakers who will make presentations to organizations and libraries to insure that voters are aware of and understand the amendments and their ramifications. Those interested in being part of this group will receive thorough training before being asked to speak.

Membership

As in years past, this is the time of year we begin to seek new members. If you have friends, neighbors or relatives who might be interested in joining, please let us know and we will set up a new and potential member get-together.

Our planned programs for this year will include our book discussion in February. If you have a suggestion for a book we might be interested in reading and discussing, let us know. Also, let us know if you would be interested in being the leader for our book discussion.

Students Inside Albany

We will again select a student from a local high school to participate in our Students Inside Albany program in the spring.

We are currently very involved with the issue of redistricting on the state level. Next year, our advocacy regarding redistricting will focus on the county level. Now that the census data is available, we will begin to see maps developed, and action on the issue will proceed quickly.

If you have any suggestions for a program or issue for study for 2022, please let us know. We look forward to a successful year.
