Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

Right Now in Criminal Justice

Right Now in Criminal Justice

This year opened our eyes to the need for widespread police reform. The League of Women Voters of the United States acknowledged the necessity of addressing this issue with a resolution passed at the national convention calling for members to advocate “against systemic racism in the justice system and, at a minimum, for preventing excessive force and brutality by law enforcement.”

Please join us on Wednesday, December 15th at 7:15 pm.

During our December meeting via Zoom, we will hear Virginia Carew speak on this critical issue, which was discussed at the National League Convention this past summer, and which has been a significant concern of many local and state Leagues around the country. After her talk, we will have a discussion of the issue and what can be done about it locally. All members will receive an email link prior to the meeting. If you will be joining the meeting via telephone, please contact Peggy Stein to get the necessary password, etc. (516-796-2876.)
