Note the LWV bag hanging from my hands in the photo on the left. As VP of Issues and Advocacy of the LWVNC, I was asked to be among the speakers at a rally against the proposed Williams Transco NESE (Northeast Supply Enhancement) pipeline, which would add another natural gas pipeline bringing gas from Pennsylvania through New York Harbor to the Rockaways and the rest of LI.
I ended my statement with:
“Now is the time to reduce the use of fossil fuels, weatherize our homes and offices, install solar panels wherever feasible, and construct windmills, so as to finally build a serious pathway towards a clean energy infrastructure. The pipeline was already rejected, for good reasons. It should be permanently blocked.”
